Steam Pipe routing...
Steam Pipe routing...
Well i got the steam pipe today so i decided to put my motor and trans back in. Ive done all the hard work and now its come down to hooking up all the hoses and im clueless. If i hook the steam pipe up here will i have problems?: http://server3.uploadit.org/files/bu...-steampipe.jpg Yes my hands are BEAT.
Also, the 2 lines that go into the throttle body if i just take 1 hose and hook them both together will that be fine also? Everything is connected right besides the steam pipe, and the right and left side coolant passages(?) of the throttle body. Help me, i want to get this thing back on the road so bad!

Re: Steam Pipe routing...
The original steam pipe routing connected to the base plate of the throttle body and was used to heat the TB to prevent icing. On my 95 LT1 I have bypassed the TB and connected the steam pipe to the radiator port just below the overflow tube on the radiator cap neck.
The 2 ports on the TB serve purposes. One provides metered air to the passenger side valve cover to feed the PCV system. The second port provides a path for the charcoal canister to absorb gas fumes when the engine is shut off and then suck them back into the intake when the car is running. If you decided to delete these 2 systems, you can block off the ports. Both systems add value to the environment and do not rob HP.

Re: Steam Pipe routing...
Thanks OBE1. Now i know about the PCV but what about the one under it? If i just block them both off i will be fine?
Also, does anyone have a diagram of the positive battery terminal routing and the ground? Thanks!

Re: Steam Pipe routing...
As my post above explained, the other port is for the charcoal canister.
Shoebox's site is a wealth of information for wiring diagrams, part numbers etc.

Re: Steam Pipe routing...
What yr. car? The one under the PCV fresh air inlet(pass-side) is the EVAP port he described already. Connects there goes back to the solenoid attached on the pass-side intake(black box 2 plastic lines w/ it and plug-in). From there(black solenoid) another line goes back forward to and under the TB to the fuel lines harness. And attaches to the vacuum hose ended of the lines (line may have popped back inside the convoluted tubing by now) it dont go all the way to the rail stops about 10" short.
The positive cable should have 3 wires. Large one down to the starter, small one to the Alternater. The medium size wire to the red plastic batt. isolator beside the power steering reservoir that supplies quite few wires on the other terminal of the isolator.
The Negative has 2 wires. One big one down to the pass-side motor mount. The smaller one, once again to the side of the power sterring reservoir. But grounded to the body, right beside the red plastic isolator for the pos.,and has other ground wires w/ it at that location.
