I have a 94z a4 3600 10" stall converter. I finally narrowed down my problem but still don't know what could cause this to happen. I can start the car and it will sit and idle all day long in park or in idle. One thing that's weird is whether I start it cold or hot the idle speed stays at 1000rpms and it used to be higher when cold the drop down as it warmed up. The big problem is while driving car when I come to a stop the car quickly just does with no hesitation. All the ses and check gauge lights come on. Cruising at 55 in OD lockup I also notice a slight hesitation/stumble. Any ideas what could cause this? Possibly all be related?

 

Could be your iac valve not operating correct. If you have means to scan for codes I would start there. If you have means to look at data I would look at the iac counts. One thing that may help point to the iac valve is at the idle cycle the air conditioning on a couple times and see if it adjusts quickly for it or stalls out.
