Squealing noise after rear brake pad and rotor replacement. How can I fix it?
Hey Guys,
WHAT I DID: I replaced my rear rotors and pads with GM OEM equipment about 1 month ago. I cleaned and lubed everything including the slider pins and nothing has seized. I also sanded the edges of the pads, put the shim in-between the inner pad and piston and slapped it back together.
THE PROBLEM: I have noticed a constant squealing sound when the brakes ARE NOT depressed. So basically, when I am driving around, I hear it, but when the brakes are depressed it goes away. It only happens on one side and I did the same thing to both. It happens most of the time not not all the time so it is somewhat intermittent. I have taken the one side off for further inspection and cleaning twice already. I have found no excess wear and no marks of rubbing other than the actual pads. I am thinking that maybe one of the pads is "popping" off or is not very stable but can't seem to figure out the problem by actually inspecting it.
Has anyone had this problem/fixed this problem? Is there some sort of glue or something I could put behind the pads?
I'm usually good at figuring this stuff out and will be pulling it apart again tomorrow but it is really pissing me off that I can't find what the problem is.
Thanks in advance with all your help.

Go to auto parts and buy Anti-sieze FOR BOLTS, the nasty silver stuff. Pull your pads off, put a piece of 80 grit sand paper on a flat surface and sand the top layer off. Put anti-sieze all over the rear of both pads and re-install. It will fix it.

take a look at the caliper bracket and pins.
I just replaced the drivers side rear bracket on mine. The grease was all dried up and black and the caliper pins wore the bracket holes into ovals.
Get the pin kit too. I'm probably going to end up doing that part too. I didn't like the way the pins looked.
Mine has been screeching like crazy since march when I put cheap pads on. Now I'm going down the line replacing everything with the more expensive stuff as I go.
Here's what NOT to do:
buy cheap wearever silver pads(SCRRRREEEEEEEE)
buy cheap wearever rotors
Hope this helps
