spark plug type and gap for LE2/XE233/WS6
 

I have a 96ws6 which was built before I got it with LE2 heads/XE233 cam/long tubes/ computer tune and a bunch of extras. what is the recomended plug type for this application as well as plug gap?? It has ngk R tr55 V power

Lloyd Elliott recommend NGK R-5671-A7 (stock number 4091 - you can order w/this # from NAPA, Discount Auto, etc). I put them in last week and the car runs great, so I can't complain. Gapped at .038 (he recommended .035-.040).

I've got some homeported heads and a 236/248 cam. I got some NGK TR6 plugs which are one heat range colder than stock, I believe the number for these is 4177. I gapped them at .035. I'm sure Lloyd's recommendation would work just as well if not better.

I am now, I just searched it. NGK 4177= TR6 which is one heat range colder than stock. I was able to get mine at the local O'Reilly Auto Parts at about $2 per plug.

I special ordered the NGK s it had NGK R TR55? Where thiose workable?

The NGK TR55 is the stock heat range for the car. You will risk detonation because the plug could cause a hot spot in the combustion chamber. The "cooler running" NGK TR6 or the plug Lloyd recommended does a better job of dissipating heat and is not as prone to detonation.

Why did you order the TR55's and not listen to the recommendations given to you on here?

I didn't thats what I pulled out of it I got the ones coming that one of the guys on the top said was recommended and Lloyd on another site said was right no one seemed to be able to come up with them so I special ordered them. wonder why the guy who built the engine put these in it?

I'm running Autolites, but I don't remember the number. I think they are the stock replacement plug and I haven't had any problems. Autolite also makes a colder plug, which I will get as soon as the car is tuned well enough for a large dose of nitrous.
