Solid Roller Lifter part numbers, please.
Can someone provide me a part number of solid roller lifters that WON'T require removing the heads to install.
|
Any and all. No lifters require removing the heads on an SBC or LT1. (this isn't an LS1). :)
|
MY buddy, posted earlier, purchased a set of Com Cams 871-16 lifters, as recommended by Comp Cams, and we can NOT install these with out removing the heads. We confirmed this with Comp Cams as well. This is why I asked for specific part numbers.
|
Why would you run those extra tall lifters? Is this in an LT1? Maybe you need to provide more details.
I guess the answer is "all lifters, but extended length ones". I certainly cannot list all the part numbers from all the manufacturers out there. :D |
This was the recommended combination from Comp Cams.
If you can suggest something else PLEASE do. I'm running the Comp Cams 268XFI cam. |
Not much info about the engine ...but there a several threads on here about lifters and what is good/bad (LS1, LS7, Cadillac racing lifters, Morels...). A search will help. Any stock length lifter is going to fit without removing the heads.
Now, I notice there is already a thread about the lifters (I guess it is your buddy's). (the thread title was not very indicative of the trouble [Weekend cam install LT1 ]). |
1997 WS-6 Convert, 6 speed T/A, a little about the build, LT4 intake, 30lb SVO injectors, PCM for Less ODBI, BBK 58, Granatelli MAF, Hooker Super Comp Long Tube, AFR LT4 195 cnc'd, Comp Cam 268XFI, 383 stroker.
What we're looking for is what we need to finish this off? With what I've listed, what is the part number? |
The bar connecting the lifters seems to be the problem.
Does anyone make solid roller lifters utilizing the same setup the stock roller hydraulics use? Morel, Isky, Crane???? |
Got your e-mail. I have the Crower Severe-Duty Cutaway solid rollers. They fit fine.... no problems with the link. I don't have a part #, the shop that built my engine never gave me the invoice, and they never appeared on the shop's invoice. And all this goes back about 7 years.

From what I've been able to find it appears that Crane, 101510-16, and Morel, 100-SR, make SR lifters utilizing the stock link bars and bracket.
|
Unless they have changed the design, the 873-16's should work. They are similar to the 871's, but are a cutaway body. They were installed in my engine after the heads were on.
|
I don't mean to be disagreeable, but the 873 is the same length/height as the 871, only difference is cut-away, and I don't see how it's possible for these to be installed AFTER the heads are installed. If I'm overlooking something obvious please let me know.

I am running some comp solid rollers and I had to remove the heads to install the lifters but luckily the engine was still on the engine stand. good luck.
|
I had to remove the heads as well. Its the longer body which is .300 longer that makes it so :(
