Im not sure about Cali, but I am installing my 306 in the winter, and I am praying to abrely pass in AZ. I figure if i dont the worse case scenario is a double cam swap weekend . You will need a serious emissions tune and some luck to pass, but it has been done, not sure about cali though.

imo the only way to pass cali emission with the CC306 is knowing someone in the business.....
probably easier to do a double cam swap weekend as mentioned earlier.

It's been done... with two air injecting tubes, TWO cats, egr in place, and an emissions tune

Do they run visuals inspections no matter what in CALI? If not.....

I got this Idea for my lil bro's motor when his is done, and they call him in.

Like it has been posted before, its not about the number of emissions not being burnt, but its the percentage.. So if this is true, and they dont do a visual at test time. I wonder if you can do this....

1. A somewhat of an emission tune (very important, you dont need the car going in there runing rick)

2. Emission equipment still hooked up. (egr, possibly A.I.R)

3. Dual cats (not high flows)

4. Cut out (leave it open)

I think it will work, in my opinion. Because what little exhaust that doesnot come out of the cutout, will go out the tail pipes, and that would of allready ran through 2 cats. Call me crazy, but I think it will work

I'm not sure if this would help you, but this is how my TA passed so clean.

I realised my rubber exhaust hanger on the passanger side was completely ripped through and that the one on the driver's side was half ripped. When I replaced them, I pulled the exhaust up closer to the floor to hold it tighter so it wouldn't bang.

Inadvertantly, I pulled the tailpipe [single 3"] up even with the bumper cover. When I went to get smogged the tech couldn't get the sniffer over the pipe, so he just laid the sniffer as close as he could.

I ended up passing with 1/6th the limit on Hydrocarbons and no CO reading at all.

Just a hint to you guys.

I would go ahead and put in the lt4 km right away. I was seeing 4-5* of false knock with just a catback and CAI. Besides it is really cheap and only takes about 5 min to install. But i would try to determine whether or not you are getting real or false knock first before i would install one.

Thanks for the info, most likely its gonna be a double swap weekend when the time comes. Smog is due as soon as i can get it smog, and car still stock so i wont have any problems. My car is a 96, would i get 2 years without worrying about smog, or is it gonna be every year now? Im in CALI by the way.
