Slp Cai

I am about to install my SLP CAI and noticed that it doesnt fit very well with the MAF sensor on. However, if I take the MAF sensor off the CAI fits just fine. I am assuming I should leave the MAF sensor on but was just wondering if other people have the same tight fitting problem. Thanks

you may have gotten one for a 93 LT1 instead of 94+

that would sound right as the 93's were speed density whereas 94-97 were maf
do you have an extra hole in the intake also?
i think thats where the iat sensor is supposed to go iirc

Yes, there is an extra smaller hole that faces toward the rear of the car but there is also one on the stock air box and a smaller hose that goes to it.

I compared mine to the different 93 and 94-97 models on the slp website and am quite sure I have the right one for the 94-97 LT1's because it is noticably shorter than the one for the 93's. I guess I will have to try to work it in a little more, I just didnt think that it would be such a pain in the butt.

I have one one my '94. There is a place where the AIR hose goes prior to the MAF location. If you still have the stock elbow, it will fit, however it will be tight. If you have an aftermarket elbow (i have the vortec)...you'll have to trim it to make it fit. The hole for the one on the '94 is not a drilled hole but rather a piece that sticks out about an inch or so (nipple) for the AIR hose.

my unit actually installed quite easily.

good luck.
