Slave cylinder problem?
Slave cylinder problem?
I am having a problem with my clutch or slave can someone help me out? Here is the problem.
When I am hard on the gas and shifting from 3rd. to 4th. or 4th to 5th. The revs stay up there and don't seem to want to drop.
It seems that my clutch is slipping or maybe the slave cylinder is going bad and not disengadging quick enough. So I replaced the clutch with a spec III and it is still doing the same thing so now I think it is the slave. This does not happen often and works fine under normal driving but acts up under race conditions and hard throttle. any help or thoughts would be great.
Thanks, Scott

when you are going at highway speeds and nail the gas in 6th, do the rpm's just climb? if so, the clutch is bad. to me it doesn't really sound like a slave cylinder problem but i could be wrong.
No the rpms do not do that in 6th gear. The clutch is a brand new spec III. I previously had this problem with my stock clutch and that's what I thought was the problem and why I went to a spec III clutch. So I am leaning towards the slave as being the problem. I am going to put in a new slave and see if that fixes it. Anyone else care to guess what might be the problem??

i also have slave problem.my prob is differant than yours, after hard driving it is hard to go in gear.but i heard that what you are having could happen too.it is disengaging late, imo.hope this helps you and good luck......
I'm glad I found this thread. I have the very-very same problem.
We just finished the clutch work on my car, it has resurfaced flywheel, reinforced pressure plate and a kevlar disc with harder springs, and it slips like before.
Checked the slave cylinder, and it was full of junk and goop. We cleaned it, it got better, but it is still sticking, so I'll need a rebulid. My master cylinder might go as well, it started to squek.
I suggest you do the following: get in your car and start to pump the sh*t out of your clutch pedal. To this for about 10 minutes, and when you're exhausted and cannot feel your legs, do it another 10 minutes
Listen closely to the master cylinder, and check the color of the clutch fluid in the reservoir. It should be clean and clear. If you notice any kind of junk in it, it's 100% it's something with the cylinders.
If you'd like, I can update you on my cylinder rebuild process, I'm gonna start this project this week. I really would like to order a new set of master/slave cyl's, but it is pricy and it would be a long wait for me. I can get them rebuilt for around $20 (yes, twenty!) total
Good luck!

we replaced just the slave cylinder not the rest of the lines and stuff and the problem is still there. The fluid is clean and and the slave was bled. I am going to call slp they suggested putting in a different slave unit GM part number 12557509 they say this is a better part to the one I have. Anyone else help us out???
Thanks, Scott
