Shifting Problems

I recently went to the track since its been awhile since i raced my car (about 11 months). On my very first pass, my car just didn't want to shift into 3rd. It just kept bouncing off the limiter. The second run i tried letting off a little early, but it still kept bouncing off the limiter... It only does this at WOT. I had a 'pro' rebuild from aamco about 4 years ago, and i haven't had a problem up until this point. My question is: What could the problem be? Is it my opti or is it my tranny? Im really pissed about this happening and would really like to fix the problem (pending i have the funds to do so). Thanks in advance.

Re: Shifting Problems

I know almost nothing on autos, but I bet it could be fixed or at least bandaided by Brian at pcmforless. Have him adjust your shift points and revlimiter.

It could be the transmission also. But I don't know anything about them.

Does it shift fine (when it does shift) and no slipping or anything? If its just bouncing on the reve limiter I bet tuning will help.

You may get better responses in the drivetrain forum.

What did you change between when it worked and now?

it sat in my driveway and was driven maybe 3-4 times a month. other than that, nothing has changed since the last time i took it to the track. as for the tuning thing, ive already talked to brian once before about a similar problem, and he sent me another ecu... and everything was fine. So unless my ecu somehow reprogrammed itself, im sure that its not the cause of the problem.

Any other ideas?

Re: Shifting Problems

My car has recently started to do the same thing ,only at WOT. I thought it was my cluch packs in the tranny. Stock tranny here.

Re: Shifting Problems

it better not be the tranny... i was ripped off as it was having to pay 1700 bucks for a tranny that was fine before i took it to the shop! only 4 years ago at that!
