SES Light, Hesitation, Car Shuts Off
 

Ok, here's the deal with the Trans Am, I just put in a new Fuel Pump, and I also have my starter switch acting up (as seen here http://web.camaross.com/forums/showt...threadid=97166 )

Well, just a few minutes ago, I got on the gas and was greated with REALLY bad hesitation, fell flat on her face around 4000rpms. I was getting a slight hesitation after that, I dropped my buddy off, and headed the last .7/mile home and within the next .4 of a mile the car began to stumble BADLY (almost no power), SES light began to flash letting me know of a missfire, and then as I pulled into my neighborhood, she cut off.

I popped the hood and saw all of the plug wires still connected, and cranked the car again (after jumping it off with my resistors ;) ). She stumbled/missed for a few seconds and cut off again.

Is there any chance my fuel pump is bad? This is my first assumption since its the only thing I've done to the car recently. However, it almost seems like a spark issue with the SES light going nuts.

My optispark (distributor) is practically brand new (less than 10K on it), and I haven't had any fluid changes that have soaked it or anything like that. (which is death to the unit)

Suggestions?

On further note, after I got the new pump in and took it on a test drive (this was last week) She started to give me an SES light after about 10 minutes. I cut it off, recranked, and it was fine. It sat in one place until I brought the car home a few days ago. It was fine on the way home (where it hasn't moved until today) then drove to class (2 miles) where it was fine, then the problems listed above began. :cry:

i guess ill be the first to say it... find a scanner that will pull the codes for you. that is really the best way to go about this.

The same S@#t happened to me this week and it is in the shop now they said it was the Mass AIr. I couldnt beleave that a MAF could cause my car to act like that but i did. I am going to put in a nother one when i get home ill let you knoe if that fix works.

When it cranks and doesn't run, you have to start with the basics: spark and fuel. Compression is the other thing you must have, but probably not an issue in your circumstances.

Man, this sucks, I literally don't have the time to deal with this :(.
Who has the cheapest handheld OBD2 scanner? All i can do is buy one :(

try this
 

try to go outside and unplug the MAF wire harness. see if it runs better. I think it will run at some kind of safe mode if it isnt getting any signal just something to try.
