SES light, emmission related

hi guys, i been reading these bords for quit some time learn alot, finally decided i needed to ask something cause its almost time for state insp.Anyways, my problem is ive had this SES light nearly forever, code is P1441 i know it has to do with the evap solenoid i believe. Tryin to get the light to go away ive replaced 2 parts, not sure of exact names but i think its the evap solenoid and was the valve infront of it. On the shoebox pic of the vapor canister lines it is num 11 and 12. I was thinking next would maybe be the charcoal canister? I dunno though, hoping maybe its something else i can do. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks

if the canister is failing, it may intrudce carbob particles into the line, which can jam the valve, so, pull the line off at both ends, and blow through it, if you get anything out of it, replace the canister

P1441 tells you there is a vacuum in the system when the EVAP purge solenoid is supposed to be closed.

Could be the purge solenoid stuck open as Dave noted. The solenoid is part #7 in the diagram on Shoebox's page. Could be the vacuum switch is defective, but that's part #11 and you replaced it.

Do you really mean you replaced part #12? That's simply the bracket that the vacuum switch mounts to.

A suggestion.... add a "signature" with the basic info about your car..... at least the year, tranny type, and any major mods. We can guess you have a 96 or 97 from the fact you are getting OBD-II codes, but its generally a good idea to include a bit of info about your car, since all LT1's are not the same.

yea, i thought about the signature thing after i had made the post, so i have one now. Part 7 was one of the ones i replaced, i dunno why i said 12, thinking tommorrow im gonna go to a gm dealership and get a new charcoal canister

It sounds like you know something about what you are doing but have you actually cleared the code to see if it returns after you replaced the parts? If not, then try that before going any further.

yes, after i had part 7 replaced, the light was out for maybe 2-4weeks, then it came back. If i reset the code now, it will stay off for maybe a hour to a few days

Check to make sure you have the vacuum lines connected to the solenoid correctly. If you switch them, you can get the light.
