ses blinking
 

i just replaced my spark plugs ngk tr55 i think and i gapped them at .45.when i started my car back up and went for a ride my ses came on and now its blinking im trippin now is it ok for me to gap them at.45? now my car idles at like 800 and when i put it in gear its idles to like 550 650 is that ok?the wires aint burnt or misplaced can ne1 help me out thankz

blinking SES means a missfire code in OBD2, if you get it scanned you can find out which ones you reversed or left loose or whatever it is that you missed causing it to missfire.

We have all been dead sure we did things right and neglected to check our work because of such and then greatly complicated out search by ignoring the obvious mistake. Suck it up and go figure out what you misplaced or left loose.

Impossible to tell you the correct idle speed, without knowing the trans type. Why not add a "signature" with basic info about your car including model, trans type and any major mods. Sounds like its a 96 or 97 since its OBD-II, and sounds like its an A4 since you mention "putting it in gear". Stock idle for an A4 is 650rpm in neutral, and 550rpm in gear. Just remember, the stock tach typically reads 100-200rpm higher than actual.

Even if the wires are not burnt you should check the plugs themselves to make sure the porcelain is not cracked. With the cramped space these cars have it's possible the plug could've cracked while trying to tighten it.

im check them again today.yesturday when i took off my intake boot it ripp pasted the tb and can that suck air threw there and cause this problem?i dont think my plug wire r misplaced or whatever. my car is a stock auto its got

A torn intake elbow allows unmetered air to bypass the MAF sensor. Generally screws things up pretty badly. Hopefully you gapped the plugs to 0.045", not 0.45". A bit smaller than spec, but shouldn't hurt anything.

yea i gapped them 0.045 that will not mess things up.the torn intake elbow will it cause the car to run rough and cause the ses to flash? i bought some duct tape to tape the rip up to i get to the junkyard on my day off will.i mean it got ripped yesturday whille taking everything off and when i putt everything back together its start running rough ses flashing and stuff. i need some opitions here this car is my dd.

If the problems started to occur after tearing the elbow, that should be a pretty good indicator that it might very well be the problem. Check out the Parts for Sale forum, you can get them pretty cheap there.

yesturday when i changed my plugs my car didnt miss on idle only when its driving but now its miss at idle and running really rough my intake elbow got ripped when i wass taking it apart so when i got done changing the plugs put everything back together its starting running rough and idle its moving up and down.my ses started to flash.i just got finished taping the elbow its still missing at idle? so now what yall think i should do!

Get a good elbow.

The air bypassing the MAF forced the PCM to use the long term fuel corrections to compensate for the incorrect fueling. Clear the stored long term corrections by pulling the "PCM BAT" fuse for 30 seconds, and see if it runs better. Or, drive it for a while and let the long terms adjust to the patched up air leak.

Are you sure the bottom of the rubber elbow isn't also folded under on the bottom, and not sealed to the throttle body?

A flashing SES/constant misfire can be caused by a torn intake elbow? First I've ever heard of that.
