seized plug took out some threads.. help

seized plug took out some threads.. help

What option do i have? its the #2 plug( that bastard)

Get a helicoil from an auto parts store.Use a little anti sieze on your plugs.Another option is new heads,pretty costly tho.

It is nearly impossible to do anything with that plug hole with the head on the car. Try running a thread chaser in it and see if that does anything. Put some grease on the chaser to collect any loose shavings. You may even have to pull the exhaust manifold (if you still have them) so you can see what you are doing. Try to match the chaser with the old threads. If the plug won't hold, you are pretty much going to have to pull the head. The good news is that it can be easily fixed with the head off.

Shoebox,I usually agree with you except now.How can you chase threads that are gone?Maybe repair some threads that were damaged due to crossthreading,but not in the case he is describing.

It depends on how many threads are gone (impossible to know, since we cannot see it over the 'net). If it is just a few, then there might be enough left to allow the plug to thread in and work ok. IMO, it is worth it to try rather than give up and pull the head.
