Scratched valve tip question
https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.cam...fb2ff5f559.jpg
That is a scratch on the hardened tip of my exhaust valve I got from jammed keepers/valve locks. I sanded/polished down the high points. The keeper rotates around the scratch freely and I can't feel it anymore while rotating the keeper around the tip. I'm thinking this won't cause a problem on my valve train. Like dropping a valve. Anyone think it might cause an issue? |
Re: Scratched valve tip question
it should be OK....as long as the keepers are not FU. Also confirm the retainer is not galled also

Re: Scratched valve tip question
Good and thanks for the reply. I will reinspect the keepers but from the few I examined they looked good. I have a set of heads that were sold to me as LE3 heads with different springs. I had the luck to have 15 out 16 jammed and that required a c-lamp to remove them. I am going to with new retainers and locators to be able to use Comp Cams conical springs p/n 7228. They should be able to work on LT1 heads per this post https://ls1tech.com/forums/lt1-lt4-m...
