?'s about changing plug wires

im debating wether to change my plugs myself or have a friend do it at a shop, he told me how much he'd do it for and its considerably cheaper than if i were to go to a dealership. i was wondering what all i need to do to change them. is it as simple as taking one out and puttin the new ones in, even tho i know its not that simple cuz it looks like a b**** to do. thats why i want a guy that knows what hes doin to do it. i got msd 8.0 mm wires to be put on.

thanks for the help guys

If you like to pay for the labor or just don't want to do it, then don't. It isn't all that easy.

If you have a full weekend to do it i'd suggest doing it yourself you'll have a much deeper appreciation for your car... lol

I just got done doing this myself yesterday. Keep in mind I have Hooker shorties so it isnt as bad as stock manifolds. #1, #3 of the driver was on top and #5, #7 was from the bottom. The pass #2, #4, was on top and #6, #8 was from the bottom and I had to drop the y-pipe off to get full access as there isnt really much room to get in there.

Goodluck! Took me a little over 4 hours from start to finish w/ a couple of beer breaks. Oh!, and dont forget to use KYJelly/Vaseline to help get your hands in there :D :D :D

Its a pain in the Azz to do the pass. side, but i'd do it yourself. Its one of those learning experiences. I've always worked on cars but they were 60's Fords and this new computer control car scared me to tear in to it. So i just started with the small stuff and now at this point there isn't anything that hasn't been taken off or replaced on my car. You've got to start somewhere. These cars are way to expensive to own and maintain if you have to pay others to do it.

it's doable but its a PITA. just be careful when tightening the plugs....the heads are aluminum and you can strip a hole easily.
