Is this to Rusted???
I think i need a new driveshaft. This is a good price for one. Do you think its okay or is it to rusted?

That's no more rusty than the average STEEL driveshaft.
My question is, if it's 'off an LS1', why isn't it aluminum? And you should be able to get used steel ones real cheap, I'd think. |
Looks like a steel driveshaft to me. Aluminum doesn't oxydize like that.
The guy obviously doesn't know what he's talking about. |
LS1's with non z-rated tires got steel driveshafts and a low speedo limiter.

Wouldn't be too concerned about the rust. The yoke looks pretty clean which is good. Too much $ though. I found one locally for $20 when I was looking for one to slap in my v6 beater to get rid of the junk 2 piece they come with.

Oh okay i was wondering why a aluminum one would have rust on it. I need an aluminum one because i get really bad vibrations at 90mph so i'm gonna try to see if a ls1 shaft will cure it. If i can't find one cheap then i will just get a new 1le.

The advantage would be to upgrade to an aluminum driveshaft, which this isn't....... Rather than spend $40 (total) for this, you might ought to look into an aluminum one at a local junkyard, or maybe see if any shops do drive shaft balancing. -Michael |
If you can't afford a new one, find a good balancer.JMHO

Before that, try loosening it and rotating the driveshaft 180 degrees. It's worked for a few people.
