running without o2 sensors?
if my o2 sensors are bad and causing me to run rich enough to backfire, would the car be more driveable if they were unplugged.
i guess what im asking is which is better, no signal or bad signal? |
Youll get the SES light but you can try and unplug them I see why not. Then you can give jason cromer a call and pick up some new ones.

its just that i dont know whats causing it and i dont have the equipment to check things with:(
|
Go to an autozone and they can scan it for you.
|
dont they have problems with our 95's? with its obd2 style plug on obd1 chip?
|
If they are bad - replace them. Unhooking really can help as temporary solution - it will change the way PCM adjusts A/F ratio. It is a good idea to replace spark plugs together with O2's. If they are fouled during running rich - you will possibly damage your new O2's...

ok i unhooked them and im still getting backfire at the low rpms and bogging at the higher throttle. what could still be causing me to run so rich?

How would you tell they are bad? Pull them and look?

Just install new sensors. they dont throw a code when connected, but do when they are not, yet it drives the same:confused: |
Actually, I think your plugs are already fouled to death... Misfire (even when not throwing a code) can cause rich condition. Check wires & try pulling out any plug... I'd say change plugs + 02's.
