roll bar in a vert

i decided the next think im going to be doing will be a 6 point roll bar. because i have this paranioa of dying in a rollover.
i need an explaination of the bolt in vs. weld in.
i looking at the wolferacing rollbars.
does the bolt in come assembled? it would make installation a breeze with my vert.
does the weld in comes in several peices that get welded into a roll bar?
somebody clear this up for me.
thanks
Jesse

Saw a C4 corvette conv. rolled over after doing some speeding on I-20. Very bad. I considered a wolf myself after seeing that.

i saw a thread about a member who flipped several times, i believe it was a white 95 transam (he luckily survived)
but his car literally came apart and was almost flat. there is lots of pics on his page.

niether come assembled, the shipping on an assembled bar would be horrendus.

the bolt in bar bolts to the floor and the tubes bolt together (gotta drill through the floor).

the weld in comes in just as many pieces except everything gets welded together,MUCH better IMHO.

I know how ya feel, I hate to get one since it makes the backseat obsolete, but I'd rather survive with arms and legs attached than to have two more seats. I was wondering the same thing, I know on a few vendor websits, it said something about welding up the middle crossbar, so maybe that needs to be welded in, which any shop can do. The bolt-on is real easy, just time consuming, and might be stronger than the weld-on since it has those large plates with bolts holding it down giving a better area. I could be wrong, but thats my guess. Personally I want to go with a bolt-on so in case I ever sell the car I can remove it, in case someone doesn't want it, or if I ever need to remove it I can do it, like if I were to change the interior, the welded one would make seat removal and such kinda difficult, and figgure after a shop welds in the bar its probably the same price as bot-on. I've heard that Wolf had a problem with fit on certain year cars cause GM changed the something during production. Not sure if its true, but if it is I"m sure they've solved any problems.

How many point roll bar do you need to be effective in stopping you from being smashed to pieces? To me a weld sounds stronger than a bolt...but as long as neither comes appart in a reck i am good.

The 6-point bolt-in Wolfe is fairly easy to install and looks much better (IMO...) than any other cage for the 'verts. The nicest thing about the bolt-in is that it will also "bolt-out" if you need to sell the car. Be sure to get the driver swing-out if you're big.

I think he was VERY lucky, had I only seen the car I would have said death was the result, but not hte case at all.

I think with the shear speed that these cars go, and how htey are driven, and hte fact that they are much smaller then a SUV, I have thought about a 6 point bolt in with the swing arm.
