ok...i just got my rods and pistons hung and started to put things together... i noticed when i took my motor apart for the rebuild that the dots on the rods and caps were facing each other...after i had my rods redone and my new Keith Blacks put on and i noticed when i put them in the dots were facing away from each other..

everything looks good on the crank etc...but did the machine shop screw up again??..(last time they put in a defective cam bearing but made it right)

Is this the right way? is it ok the way it is?

Easy to tell on stock rods, but don't know about the rods you have.

 

these are stock rods. there is one dot on the rod and one on the cap. these are not the "ridge rods" thats have a beefer bottom cap to them.

 

Don't know if this picture will help, but my stock rods/caps have a curved and a flat side. The flat side faces the main bearings. You can see some dots in the pic on the one being tightened (if that is what you mean).

It's part of the torque/angle meter. It keeps it still while you are using it.

 

oh ok, i was just curious when i saw the red handle on it...was thinking about electricity!
