replacing fuel pump

do you have to put it back in the tank? i see some are "in tank pumps" and some just dont say... if you do have to replace "in tank" whats required, suspension drop?

easiest way is to cut a small acces panal above your fuel tank and change the pump from your trunk

We and my buddy did mine from underneath in about two hours including dropping the tank halfway (cant fully remove due to filler neck), removing the fuel assembly crap (extremely carefully of course) then swapping the pumps and reinstalling it. Of course I was using a lift, so it made it much easier. Here is a good install page if u go this route. fuel pump install guide

For those who cut an access panel:

I know a couple of the connections connect right on top of the fuel pump, but there are a couple that are further down on the hoses.. Buy doing the access panel, can you get to all of the connections easily??

Make sure you bebur the part of your cut that is where the lines hook up or you will get some nasty cuts trying to hook the lines back up.
I trimmed just a little farther in that spot to make it easier.
