Relacing LM Resonator

With one of these http://www.sweet-thunder.com/chamber....html#aluminum

Not sure how long the resonator is on the Loudmouth and two... you think it would quiet down the exhaust system much since there is only ONE resonator to swap out?

It's a 383 LE3 setup with 11.8:1 Compresion...

So it's going to be loud and I need to quiet it down some... and I Don't want to purchase a new exhaust because I want to go true duals one day and want to waste money on the setup now.

I also noticed just now... the 3" muffler is a 2 1/2 " Inlet... how much power will this thing be robbing from me? Pace Setter LTs, ORY, LM (with this muffler)

Re: Relacing LM Resonator

if you're going duals later, why not just purchase the longest dynomax bullet with 3" in and out......save alot of money now
longer muffler should be a tad bit quieter and will be easier/cleaner too install then one that is too short
thats the one thing i didnt like about sweet thunder mufflers
they can have a 3" inlet but the inside of the muffler is reduced down too 2.5" no matter what size the inlet is

Yea? How long is the resonator of the LM?

How much do the Dynomax Bullets cost? Those Chambered Mufflers are pretty cheat...

Re: Relacing LM Resonator

i know of others who swapped in the chambered muff in the place of the resonator. said it significantly reduces interior drone and exterior raspyness but is still real loud.

What did they say about tone? How does it sound? Do they like it?

Real loud... as to what? I'm sure its quieter then a stock 350 LT1 with Jet Hots, ORY, and LM right?

I'm more curious about driving around db

havent heard one in person, just recorded. do some searching and you might find the threads. Another popular method is sticking a bullet in the resonators spot, but i think the chambered mufflers would sound alot better. My dream setup is true duals over the axle with sweet thunder mufflers. just beware with them about the actual diameter of the mufflers, i believe their 3 inch is reduced to 2.5 in the center. im not entirely sure, just take it into consideration. It would definately quiet it down, but keep in mind it will still be loud, just more refined. Ive heard from others that the interior drone is virtually gone. Keep us posted

Ya mine aren't sweet thunder but my 2.5s are reduced to 2s, sometimes the bottle neck like that helps power but i have duals so that still gives me plenty of space. But a single 3 to 2.5 would be about like the stock size wouldn't it?

Re: Relacing LM Resonator

i cant see how it could help power if it reduces diameter.. its still a restriction isnt it??

I know it'll restrict flow and reduce power... but I think i'll have enough to spare a few... haha I just need it quieter and more refined. I just want to make sure that the Sweet Thunder Chambered Muffler would fit... because i'm not sure how long the SLP LM Resonator is.

sweet thunder makes different lengths of mufflers in both aluminum and stainless steel. Of course, spend a little extra and get the stainless, no tinny sound and no rust. They also do customs as well.. but i doubt it would be nessicary because others on the site have done this mod, so id think that they make the right size... if not i guess you could just get one longer and cut the I pipe to fit it in. As far as catbacks go, there all similar gains so i wouldnt mind loosing a few horses for the sound i love

Anyone know the muffler that SLP sells that is a direct replacement for the LM Resonator?
