rebuild or crate?

Hey guys, im still a ways out from going through with this, but my buddies keep trying to tell me to get a crate motor for my car when we get back from iraq. But i keep thinking getting it rebuilt, putting LE2 or 3 package on it,new opti, 58mm TB and maybe a few other supporting mods. Just wondering what a majority of the community would do

Re: rebuild or crate?

Crate forged 383 (or 396) shortblock, heads/cam package of choice. Don't get cheap on the shortblock. Expect 4 grand or more for a really nice lower end, another 3 for heads, another grand for miscellaneous.

However, it'll make great power, and should hold up a LONG time.

Go fully balanced on the lower end, don't forget a zero-balance dampener and flywheel, and conside AI heads.

Forged 383 short block, LE Head and Cam Package, 58mm Throttle body and associated parts. That has been proven time and time again to make power.
