rear end help please.

I am thinking of buying a rearend out of a 1999 z28. the rear has traction control but my car doesnt. I also have a 1997 with an lt1. I have herd that the brakes are different between LS1 and LT1s, and the traction control will cause me to lose my ABS. is this true?
Please tell me what the difference in the rears are and what i will have to do to convert them.

Thanks,sen

I think this can be done and while I have not actually done it I have a few ideas on what you would probably need to do. I am going to say you are going to need to go with the LS1 rear brakes as they are different. The LS1's all have the 4 channel abs/tc setup while your car has the 3 chnl. Once you have it installed and hook the brakes up (you may need to make custom brake lines and stuff) all should work but the ABS at that point. In order to make the abs work you are going to need your sensor out of your old rear diff. and you are going to need to build some kind of ring gear and put it somewhere on your driveshaft and mount that sensor above it. Take the ABS sensor out of you 97 rear and then turn one of the axles and look into where you took the sensor out. Then you will see how the sensor works and you will need to make a smaller version of that gear type thing to go around your driveshaft. If you don't understand what to do then email me I might have some pictures that could help you.
