If your pinion seal isn't leaking tremendously bad, it should be nothing to worry about. It seems to be a common problem, but unless it's leaking like a sieve, don't worry about it. To change the pinion seal (from a friend of mine):
Take out the driveshaft. use a pen and mark a stright line going all the way across the pinion shaft, nut, washer, and companion flage to line it all up the same again. now count the number of exposed threds in fron if the nut... use a 1 1/4 ince socket and an impact if you have it to get the nut off.. pull the companion flange off or hit it LIGHTLY with a hammer. use a puller and get the old seal out. use a large socket or similar to set the new seal in... put the flange back on and tighten down the nut untill the makrs line back up and the same amout of threds show. the only reason you need to replace he crush sleave is if you distort it due to over tighting the nut wich by doing it this way you will not... good luck
