Radiator Tube busted?!
The damn radiator tube bust while I was on my way home...luckily it didnt overheat before I got home...replaced it with my dad, but as far as we could tell the coolant was the green coolant. The auto parts guy said Dexcool is orange and then theres green stuff...I'm not sur eif it was a watered down orange or green...and when we started it up the first time after fixing, it started to overheat, so we added a lot more coolant...then it didnt overheat when we started up again. now the thing that has me worried is we couldnt get the bleed valves to work...and we noticed that theres a ****load of rust in the coolant lines...Im gonna go get it flushed tomorrow...but is that all I should have done to it? To me rust is a major problem on any car...

Re: Radiator Tube busted?!
Is it "rust", or is it the brown sludge that forms when Dex-Cool is exposed to excessive air in the cooling system? Is it possible someone erroneously added the green coolant to the Dex-Cool? Might also explain the color of the coolant and the sludge.
When you said radiator "tube".... did you mean radiator "hose"? If you meant "tube", what tube are you talking about? |
Re: Radiator Tube busted?!
Hey man,
Sorry to hear you are having problems with your new car. :( |
Re: Radiator Tube busted?!
ehh...**** happens  By 'tube' I meant hose, and it is very possible its brown sludge, which means we added the wrong coolant so I have to get it flushed. Dont you just love spending paychecks as you get em

Re: Radiator Tube busted?!
That's so true, but if you had bought my car, you would not have that problem.
I did sell it this past weekend to chevyman502bb. Good Luck, Michael |

Re: Radiator Tube busted?!
The secret to these engine's life is the 6 speed transmissions!
Both 5th and 6th are overdrive and in 6th the ratio is 1 to 2 This means for every rotation of the engine, the driveshaft does two. So the wear is cut in half!!! And this is why so many of them last for over 300,000 miles. The key is keep the oil changed and perform the maintenance regularly. :) |
