Radiator question

This bugger has been hiding from me forever now but this weekend I finally found that pesky coolant leak.

It turns out the radiator has a hole in it right under the low coolant sensor it appears to be leaking from where the tank joins the cooling fins do I have that right? Anyways, I was wondering if someone might know if this leak can be fixed by having it brazed or soldered by a radiator repair shop or am I stuck buying a new radiator.

Thanks in advance

Take it to a radiator shop before ya pull it and show them what ya found and ask can they repair it.Take it home and bring them the radiator.

Re: Radiator question

Yea, I guess that’s what I’m going to have to do I was looking at a few part places online and one had the radiator listed but it said the tank was plastic I’m guessing if that is so it cannot be soldered.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what would be a good replacement radiator aside from a stock part if I have end up having to replace it?

Some places can plastic weld it or have the tank replaced.

Re: Radiator question

I got a replacement radiator via the internet (not a GM dealer) for $130. Direct replacment (fit perfectly) and same quality as the stock radiator.

Re: Radiator question

I was just looking a gm parts direct not a bad price $180.00 shipped way better price then Autozone.

After looking at Shoe boxes site I have another question does the tank split from the core maybe there just something I need tighten up in there to stop the leak. http://shbox.com/1/radiator.jpg it seems to be leaking from in-between item 4 or 3 and 7.

Again thank you everyone for the help

The tank is crimped to the core.A good shop can take one or both tanks off and replace them.(about 75 bucks) It has a gasket under the tank that may be leaking. The shop has a tool that goes in a press for crimping-- not a hammer--.
