quietest catback

im changing my exaust setup from a magnaflow and shorties to long tubes and ory but am undecided on the catback. Tha magnaflow sounds good and is pretty quiet but i have the fitment and the tips. I was wondering how much louder if any is the loudmouth 2 or looking for some other suggestions.

The loudmouth will be much louder. If you want to go quiet, I'd suggest swapping out your muffler for a Dynomax or a SLP dual/dual.

Im not talking about the regular loudmouth im talking about the loudmouth 2 that comes with the muffler instead of the resinator but i will also look into the dual dual

even though the loudmouth 2 has the bullet muffler, its still going to be really loud.

http://www.slponline.com/view_product.asp?P=31029 slp dual dual

http://www.slponline.com/view_product.asp?P=31020 TOL

i would opt for the dual dual just because the TOL looks funny in my opinion.

Re: quietest catback

just get a cutout w/ the magnaflow...best of both worlds. thats what i have.

Re: quietest catback

I wont stay with the magnaflow the fitment is horibble and the tips are awefull im most likely going to go with a used 2otl for the great sound/sleeper look expecially if i can trade my magnaflow for it.

go to a muffler shop and i'm sure they will fix the fitment and swap your tips for less than a new catback. and get a cutout installed :P

When i had the magnaflow installed, the fitament was an issue at first.. but was nothing we couldn't work with. Just take it to a good shop, its in perfectly now and first perfectly as well... once adjusted and setup properly. The magnaflow has several parts that should be twisted and adjusted until "just right" at the shop.

i have the f-body style dynomax muffler, you can get it in jegs for about 50 bucks i think, stainless, looks great. it is very discrete and you can barely tell its not stock. id suggest that if you are looking for something quiet.

Re: quietest catback

Either SLP piece is nice I have had both on my car and love each of them just got older and wanted it to be quiter.

The TOTL can be made louder since there is the "cone of silence" on them. Just a reducer internally in the inlet of the muffler that can be taken out, it is a bit hard to get out. I took mine out and loved it.

As for the Dual dual it is a nice piece besides being heavy it still flows well for being quiet. Either way you go it will not rust out or look crappy ever. SLP pieces are supposedly made by borla but I am not positive on this.

I have also ran a borla for a longtime with the passenger tip capped completely so it would be quiet. I actually took the tip assembly off and reworked the drivers side as well to have a turndown and have the exhaust unseen, nice part is the plate can be taken off to act as a cutout. It is still loud at WOT with the plate on.
