Quiet Duals?
Quiet Duals?
Ok so ive got a single in single out magnaflow, i was considering, since the person before i bought the car had WELDED the y pipe to the Headers to cut em free then put flangest and stik a X pipe in there and lead back to 2 Single in single out Magnaflows then into some dual tips, is there enuf room for this, and how would that sound? I would immagine itd be quieter but sound quality would increase since its dualed
Re: Quiet Duals?
i was thinking about the same thing. or something similar. my friend has an 85 Iroc that he put long tubes on, x-pipe, summit mufflers and turndowns right before the rear end. it is louder than ****. it rattles everything and too be honest idk if its his mechanical cam and huge lope or the exhaust but it sounds like a big harley, no joke. way too loud and not good sounding. i was considering doign something like this, but with maybe bullets, cause they are cheap and have a lot of groud clearance, and then quieting them by going over the axle and do actual tailpipes like your talking about. tailpipes really quiet a car down a lot. the guy at the exhaust shop tho said it would be hard to get 3" over the axle, so i was thinking 3" all the way to the bullets and then a reducer off the bullets to go to 2.5" then over the axle with tailpipes. but like i said the ground clearance on all mufflers suck with true duals unless you get them tucked up close to the driveshaft well, which would be easy with bullets but im not sure with the torque arm. another option that i have seen, is go over the axle with some pipes then do mufflers right by the back end with some tailpipes or something. i saw it on a drag SS one time. he had two super 40's, just sitting right by the rear well in the back of the car and then some nice tailpipes. theres a ton of thigns you can do, but to get somethign to fit truely well i would come up with an idea of how you want it and talk to and have someone at an exhaust shop do it. they will be able to bend it perfectly and give you the most ground clearance.
Re: Quiet Duals?
i got pacesetter LT's into a H-pipe then into 2 flowmaster 40 series mufflers, and its really quiet, almost stock sound until you get up into the RPM's,i know some say flowmasters suck for flow but i have a cutout after each header so when i go to the track i'll just open it up and wont have to worry about how bad they flow, mines also 2.5 inch so i can save some ground clearance
