Quick PCV/burning oil ?
I know this subject has been covered many times and I've read most of the posts. I was just wondering if my setup it correct. Its a '93 and its supercharged. My pass. side valve cover is capped off. The PCV in my intake and the hose are good. My driver side valve cover has a hose running to the front of the car under the headlights with a breather on the end. Is this the way it should be done? Also if the breather is dirty could it cause excessive crankcase pressure causeing my front seal to leak at only 5k miles?
The car also burns oil on cold start-up and I have to clear it out for a few minutes. When its warm to hot it runs good with minimum smoke. What is there is fuel smoke anyway. On deceleration down a long hill at night I can see excessive smoke lingering in the headlights of the cars behind me. I'm thinking all of this is caused by bad valve guide seals. The chances of it being rings at 5k miles are slim and also wouldn't it bellow smoke pretty good at WOT cold, warm, or hot if its the rings? Just wondering some opinions on my troubles. Anything would help. Thanks Nathan |
