Don't know the ansewer to your question, but what I can tell you is that comps customer service is pretty great. Give them a call and they can tell you what you need.

The 983 didnt fit in my engine. This is a part of a mail from Comp:

The correct spring that needs to be used is our 981-16 valve spring. You will have to remove the damper from these, but they will fit over your stock locator. The catalog does list the 983 spring, but it will not fit your locator and I do not make one for the LT1 engine. The 981 spring can use the 742 retainer which is 7 degree or the 950 retainer which is 10 degrees.

I got the 983 and i had to let a mech shop make new locators to me.

cheeper/easyer than shipping it back from sweden.

I believe you will have to have the heads machined for those springs to work. I have the Crane 10308 springs - they are dual coil and are good to .600" lift w/no machining required. Something to look into.

No machining needed on the heads only new locators/shims the OD is stock size but The ID is a little smaller than stock springs.

But if i had this info from the begining i should have order the crane 10308-1 set insted.

Thanks for the replys. They really helped out. If I could get these parts cheap enough though should I just get them and have new locators made?
