question on lt4 knock sensor

question, if this is a pic of the lt4 sensor
go to gmparts direct and search for part #GM PART # 16214681
that looks to me like a huge ass square peice, isnt the factoty sensor on the lt1, like a goldish round peice that installs where the drain plug should be??????

The round piece is the sensor. This is the knock module located in the PCM.

so how much work is it to change that module, just pull out the pcm and plug that it or does the cover have to come off.....what it be better to just wait and get a chip and have it "desentsitized".......

madwolf Jun 11, 2003 12:45 AM

No "chips" on 96s. You can do it through programming on the PCM though.

Installing the module is pretty easy. There's a little cover on the pcm held in place by two bolts. Take those bolts off and voila.

I got a question.(raises hand) I have the lt4 knock and a stock lt1 knock sensor, is this ok?

madwolf Jun 11, 2003 01:03 AM

Yep, it's OK as long as you don't have it the other way around. (stock lt1 knock module and lt4 knock sensor on a 94-95 car. Or even lt4 knock module and lt4 knock sensor....)
