Question about HydRoller over.600

So I just bought a custom cam from a shop its 230/236 .602/.602 114lsa
this is going in a 383 stroker I have 1.6 pro mag SA roller rockers
is this lift pushing it I mean even if I get accomadating springs. What about piston to valve clearance and things like that...also can you recommend a good spring for this

Re: Question about HydRoller over.600

On a 114 ls, you'll have plenty of room to spare. You can go into upper .6xx lift on a 110 and lower LS without having to worry about PTV clearance, though it can change depending on your pistons and heads. If your worried, just check the clearance, especially since its a new motor. Odds are though, that you wont have an issue with that low of a lift.

Hmmm, I have always thought I heard that over .600 lift is pushing it for a hydralic lifter?

For a normal hydraulic lifter, but a roller is a different story. The rollers can go closer to .650 before the edge of the body will come close to digging into the cam. But if you put more duration into it the ramps arent as abrupt.

So then say a Comp R lifter on our LT1's can handle up to .650 of lift? Approx how close is the piston to valve clearance for the stock heads/pistons?

Re: Question about HydRoller over.600

I'm running .600 lift on the exhaust side on my motor, with an 18cc dish piston and .039 gasket I was a good .070 from the piston. But valve event timing would raise the valve at that pint even more, I think the valve was still only about at .260 lift or so at that point. So youre cam timing plays a big part in it.
