Q's About Which Tranny To Go With?????

ill be switching out my 4L60E for somthing else soon. i really dont want another of the same. ive done alot of reading up on switching over to a T56, which i would definatly like, but it does look like some work. if i stay with a auto, id like to go with a TH350/400. what am i looking at change-wise to make one of those fit??

guys that have done the T56 conversion, any words of encouragement or advice. ive always liked manuals as they are more fun to drive and would like to have one, but some people say its just more practical to get a 6sp car rather than convert. others have said its not that hard. like i said, ive done some reading/research and have printed off several sets of detailed instructions so i have an idea of whats involved. ive heard the conv. kits go for around 1500 or so. this right??

also, i know what a built A3/A4 can be made to handle (power wise), but what is a T56 good for (hp)??

the t-56 will hold 500+hp easily

the 4L60E can be built to handle the same-
mine is.
no problems here

I ran 10.66 @ 134 mph in my 4000+lb car with the stock T56 and the Street Twin. 60' times were in the low 1.5's and it was a pleasuure to drive on the street. I am going to a TH400 this year, with some trepidation. Most likely I will end up keeping it and getting the Gear Vendors OD. But the T56 is pretty darn stout, and unless you are planning on mega hp, go for it.

The conversion is very easy.

RSKRAUSE-

out of curiousity, why are you switching to A3?? as far as the conversion, it just seems as if theres alot involved. but if i can work up the confidence, i may go for it. i just dont want to get into situation where my car is out of comission for weeks/months. been there done that, didnt like it:)

any idea on whats involed in switching to a 350/400?? electronics and fitment would be the main concern i would think....
