since the drivers side block plug is a ****ing ***** to get to, i was thinking about putting a petcock in place of it?

Anyone know a company that makes one that will fit?

Why not put a fitting and a braided SS hose to bring it to a more convenient location? Just an idea.

hmm that would work as well, either one would suffice. i can reach the plug fine, but the angle is just too great to get a socket on it, it hits the motor mount.

rob, you happen to know the size of that hole?

Not sure the p/n but any Mercruiser dealer or even a place like West Marine would have brass block drains that open easily[not sure theres clearance for it tho?
You gave me an idea there too I think I have one lying around here somewhere..
If I can find a pic I'll link it here..

there is clearance unless the valve in very very long. i could fit a socket and extension up to it, but the angle is wrong and it wouldnt fit w/o an extension, and then it hit the motor mount.

let me know if you find p/n or pic

Heres a link with a pic [not sure which of the 2 it is probably the 10.99 one[welcome to BOATS... if you think cars are $$$...
Also, pretty sure that plug is std 1/4" NPT
http://www.westmarine.com/webapp/wcs...=68&storeNum=6

I found one here, and it's about 1 5/8" total [screwed closed] and it will take about that much [minimum!]clearance installed, and to allow opening..
Not a bad idea, but make SURE it never opens on you tho...

Also, I have a type here that has a 'nut' with a drilling on the end..[instead of the petcock 'tee' ... same principle tho...]

ya wanna sell that one that you have?

so 2 inches of clearance will work?

i doubt it would open on the road just randomly? look at the radiator drain, mine has always stayed:-D and peoples catch can drains, etc.
