PUSHROD what is the fattest / widest that fits?

Ok who out there is running wider than 5/16ths pushrods?

Right now I am looking at;
Manton 11/32 .083 wall series 4
Manton 3/8 .083 wall series
4

I currently am running Chet Herbert 5/16 x .083 wall and have left small marks in the rev kit and head. I have yet to push this motor into the 7K range that it was deigned and built for and have major pushrod flex.

I am worried about clearance issues with the larger pushrod and wanted some feedback from ppl actually running larger pushrods.

I did purchase a 3/8 .083 wall Chet Herbert pushrod for machup. Just now I finished running it for like 15 seconds. No marks at 1200 RPM but man its tight. I would hate to know about the pushrod eating thru the intake runner that is already very very thin on my ported stock casting heads. Oh and yes the pushrod area of the head is clearanced.

it all depends on how big the pushrod openings in your heads are

I did the same thing as you are wanting to do. First Gen SBC with Dart Pro One 200cc heads. I ordered a set of the Manton series four 3/8" pushrods. I only had to do a little clearing on like 4 spots in the head to get the clearance I felt comfortable with. The other 12 areas fit with no problem.

By the way I ordered one to check with before I ordered the rest. I had never done this before so I was not taking any chances with a full order.

That why I bought a 3/8"th x .083 pushrod for machup. But it is so f-ing tight I thought I would ask around.

3/8th's.... depends on what rockers, guideplates you are running.

BTW ditch that rev kit.
