pulling motor, got a question

Im pulling my LT1 out of my camaro from the bottom. I have the back of the car sitting up about a foot high (sturdy). The drive shaft is out. I already had the intake and heads off, so everything is disconnected from the engine as well as the tranny (Auto 4l60e). Strut towers are unbolted. Im down to the 6 bolts on the k-member and the tranny Xmember.

The question I have is where do I disconnect the brake lines???

if you follow the lines up the drivers side frame-rail they they go into the abs unit up on top, only two of the lines need to be disconnected, just follow them from each one of the front brakes to thier respective fittings

cool, thanks! I tried disconnecting them near the calipers, them realized that the lines were still connected between the Kmember and frame. Is it obvious this is my first time doing this?
Ive been mainly following this :

http://www.michiganspeed.com/enginepull/index.html

Its pretty helpful but its kind of vague in areas.

Anyone have any other links on the subject to check out?

It is kind of a pain figureing out which brake lines you need to disconnect. Just take your time and look it over. I had to tweak mine a little bit when I pulled my engine but no big deal.

The hard part is cracking the line fittings loose without rounding them off. You may have to get a bit creative. Again you only need to get the front lines, dont worry about the rear.

I see so many guys talk about pulling the Lt1 out from the bottom Why would you do that. I gotta do mine in a few weeks I sure as hell ain't gonna pull mine out the bottom. It seems like it would be so much easier to pull it out the top. I mean you still have to disconnect alot of stuff either way you pull it. Go out the top you don't have to take any brake lines off and you don't have to mess the alignment up. So then when your done with the job and lets say you need to get the car out of the shop while your doing the motor. pulling it out the bottom well then your screwed because the car can not be moved.

Why? Because many feel it is the easiest way and you can completely assemble the engine and accessories. Alignment was not affected on my car.

Obviously, you can't move the car if you need to, unless you put a dolly under it.

There have already been enough threads on top vs.bottom removal. This does not need to be another.

As Shoebox said; alignment doesn't get screwed up; LOTS easier to drop it out the bottom, and can pre-assemble almost everything outside the car.

Also, be careful when pulling the brake lines; cap everything with rubber/plastic plugs/caps as brake fluid LOVES to eat paint and destroy it!!!
