transmission lines leaking

How can I get the lines of the transmission to stop leaking.I used flare nut wrenches but they keep leaking.

Re: transmission lines leaking

If they are leaking from the fittings on the transmission, and you have done anything at all to reposition the fittings on the transmission, like removed and replaced them or tightened them, swapped them during a rebuild, that is the reason why. You need new ones in that case, then they won't leak. Problem is that the fittings don't have perfect alignment and when you tighten the lines on, they make small grooves in the fittings. So if you orient them differently for any reason, they don't mate perfectly any more and they leak. Getting new ones lets them mate perfectly again.

I am not familiar with the line as I have a manual but a few things I do know to look at. First is it an o ring connection? if so dont overtighten. If its not an o ring look at the flare on the end for knicks or a bad spot. Lastly try to have good alignment between the line and connection as it helps putting even pressure on the sealing part of fitting. Good luck. On a side note if your having to over tighten to seal it up might be a real beast come time to disconnect after time and miles. Not sure but perhaps a little teflon paste might help to both tighten and remove at a later date as it will probably not do anything to seal it.

Re: transmission lines leaking

It depends on where the leaks are coming from. Are they leaking out of the threads between the transmission case and the fitting? Or out of the fitting where it meets the tubing?

Got it to stop by switching the fittings in the case. I looked at the ones I removed and you could see where the flare met the inside of the fitting and it looked like two rings overlapping and i'm going to say it wasn't seating good.
