pro mags and kr

I have tried everything. The last thing I done was adjust valves and just went a 1/4 turn then locked down. This lasted well around town with 0 kr for about 300 miles. Drove it to work today on the interstate about 30 miles and I check it with the scanner and I was getting 5 degrees once I stop at the light. The kr only comes up now when I give it a hard load. Any suggestions. Should I just change to the hot cam RRs.

so ur saying that you think that you're thinkin that the retard is coming from your rocker arms?

never heard of that before, but i am curious, cause i just found out this weekend that ive got A LOT of retard, about 1 at idle, then it can go up to 7.8 at wot, 5900 rpm.

i have hotcam rockers currently by the way, but i am putting on 1.7 scorpions this week.

ttt

Correct. Everytime Ive adjusted them the KR goes away. Ive tried the 3/4 and the KR only went down to 2 degrees but it was all the way up to 8 degrees. Done it with 1/2 turn and it went away for about 1000 miles. Done it this time with 1/4 turn and it went away for about 300 miles. Next time I do it Im gonna go back to the 1/2 turn and lock down. Im posting here to see how many get this and what have they done to solve. On the Impala site alot have gotten rid of the pro mags all together because of this and gotten rid of the KR issue but going to al RRs you got the issue of the RR lasting. Some only get about 20K miles out of there al RRs. You cant beat this pro mags on how they are built. The nics that I have on them now would beat up a al RR.

But then again It could be my exhaust being so loud and vibration from it.

Sounds like a job for the LT4 knock module. The theory is that GM used a different module in the LT4 PCM that was less sensitive to knock being the LT4 had roller rockers arms that were more noisy.

Something with the way they click and clack must drove our knock sensors crazy. Mine got lots of retard too. I just deleted the KR ability out of the ecm. Shrug.

somebody correct me if im wrong, but isnt what ur supposed to do is run some high octane gas, to check if its real knock, and as long as it goes away with the gas, u can then program it out?

Yes thats the "correct" way. Some people cant feel if a car is pinging/detonating, others can. One of those things. Im confident enough with my ears and feel of the car that driving without a knock sensor doesnt bother me at all.
