potental LT4

ok im sorry but im a little excited at the moment cause i have 96 z28 and the previous owner had swapped the motor for a new one and i was reading somewhere that in 1996 they had LT4 and the intake was powder coated red and which mine is and it looks original its starting to chip off and looks its age not a fresh powder coat

so so far from the looks of it i have a LT4 intake and tomorrow im removing the drivers side valve cover due to the bolts leaking and while i have the cover im going to cross reference the head casting number to double check

sorry but im excited i know there isnt much difference between the two but not only i got my dream car but i might have a upgraded version of it so wish me luck

Can you post a picture of this setup? The only cars that I know of that came with the LT4 set up was the vette.I could be wrong.I was wrong twice last year, and once this year.:)

Re: potental LT4

The only "factory" LT4 4th Gens were the 108 (100 US, 6 Canada, 2 prototypes) 1997 Camaro SS's and 29 1997 Firehawks built by SLP. They are very rare, obviously so I doubt anyone would remove and sell one of those engines, unless they totalled the car. But it's possible they pulled the engine out of a 96 Corvette and swapped over the accessories.

There were no 1996 or any other year LT4 4th Gens, other than the SLP 1997's.

Not that hard to put real LT4 heads and intake on an LT1.....

Actually there are a large number of differences between the LT1 and the LT4:

LT1 vs LT4

Re: potental LT4

i seen that i wasnt excited about the lt4 engine i was just hoping for intake heads i know its not much but horsepower and torque is what we look for and anything that is better than stock is better than nothing at all

anyways its a lt1 intake someone just powder coated it red a while ago.

i just called the previous owner and asked him he said he put a new motor just old accessories on it and he had a "head job" done......no clue what that means

Re: potental LT4

A good head porter can rework the LT1 heads and intake to blow the LT4's away.... like 425 - 500HP at the flywheel.

Re: potental LT4

what does a head job mean i would like to port and polish but if its done no need to. he wouldnt go into detail as i think he was pissed i bought his car cause he was gonna buy it back from the loan company so its hard to get info out of him

Re: potental LT4

well unfortunaly i would love to get elliots work but i can not be out of a vehicle i have some other things that need done and i found a local dyno tune there a little pricey but they seem pretty reputable so im going that rout and when i do have another vehicle to start tareing this one down any mods i do to they will re-tune for a discount as long as i dont do any other tuning.

Custom Dyno Tuning

and this is 45 mins away from me so im probably gonna get it up to par with there check list and tune
