Porting heads by yourself?

How hard is to port LT1 alluminium heads? IS there a special step-by-step guide? Thanks

I did my own based upon information I pulled off this site. I didn't go as far into them as they do on that site, though. I gasket matched the intake, smoothed the runners, bowls, and chambers, and had the machine shop do a 3 angle valve job and install Manley Race-Flo valves. It's what most people would call a "Stage 1" port job.

I'll do almost any work on my own car or at least attempt it. However, there are two areas (at least ) that I won't even attempt...

1) Paint and body work.
2) Head porting.

I'll pay the pros to do this. I think I might be able to do an OK job doing something like Chris mentioned (basically a stage I) but if I want serious power out of the heads then I ain't going to touch them
