ported lt4 heads?

i see all kinds of numbers for ported lt1 heads but none on lt4 heads.. i am debating on having my stock lt4 heads ported or getting AFR's.. i know that porting stockers is cheaper and will have more of a gain but i have an lt1 car and an lt4 so i could reuse the lt4 heads on the lesser car.. anyone that has had there lt4 heads ported by AI, LE or any other big name post up some numbers please..

what numbers you want? 292 cfm at 0.600" and a ton under the curve, where it counts the most on a street/strip car.

lol.. that was funny..

the more info the better.. cost, level, why you chose AI over LE.. if you can get 270cfm out of an lt1 head i am guessing you got a middle of the road porting? or is that ***** out for these heads.. but i see you have big valves?? hmm....

A flowbench is not an engine, do not get hung up on the numbers. Look at performance.

Frankly judging by performance I have seen I think 99% of guys are best served with ported LT1 castings and AI is my pick as best to do it.

I agree with the flow bench thing........big flow numbers don't make H.P. everything has to work together.

BTW I hear AI had someone run 9.88 sat.

If I were there to help I would at least stand there, point and laugh.

well i am going round and round on what i should do.. and i know flow numbers aren't everything.. and if i do anything i am going to probably get a custom cam to go with whatever heads i decide cause it just seems like the smart thing to do.. the new eliminators seem to flow quite a bit more than the older ones. for the money it seems like i am getting more with the afrs cause they aren't $1500 and then another $1500-2000 to make them make more power than another head..

AFR is more reputation than results. A reputation built when the OEM heads were garbage so improving on them was easy. Till the Eliminator stuff they were just using anchient ports that were an improvment over gen 1 stuff but not particularly worthwhile over gen 2 stuff.

The jury is still out on the Eliminator stuff but IMO with the 9.88 second slip mentioned above having been on LT1 intake and heads I think it laughable that every kid with an f-body thinks he needs aftermarket castings. If you so chose, you live close enough that you could go watch that car in person.

Forget what all the kids say and look at results, not saying LT4 heads are bad just saying LT1 heads do a WAY better job than most of the forums would want you to believe.

LT1 heads are good, but LT4 are little better, but cost a lot more and come
with lightweight sodium filled valves for better valvetrain stability.

If you can get LT4's at a good price, and you wanna go as far as you can,
do the LT4's especially if you are increasing your ci.

My flow #'s are 290 @ peak and higher than LE2 LT1 heads at all areas w/
my stock sized LT4 valves. My heads are 216cc on the intake.
