PLEASE HELP, problem with g-friends car

My girlfriend has a 95 sebring with the DOHC 2.5 V6.

The car will run fine for hours but once you shut it off it doesn't want to restart. When you crank it over it sputters and coughs and stumbles at like 400rpm and then dies. If you feather the gas it will just continue to stumble until you let off the gas and then die, if you floor it it will just crank with no stumbling or anything. It will continue to do this for a few times then suddenly will start normal and have no problems.

It doesn't happen everytime and only happens when the engine has been at operating temp for a while.

I think it's a short in the fuel pump, what do you guys think?

Check to see what the spark at the coil looks like if it has one when the problem occurs. If it has a distributor, the module inside is more likely the bad guy. The fuel pump won't be a problem when it's hot since it should never get hot. If it was the problem it would happen when cold. You could always check the fuel pressure when the problem occurs.

I would say that if she has a problem when pushing the gas, that it could intermittenly be the TPS.

This thread is going to get moved because this section is reserved for LT1 tech questions.

Personally, I would check the battery, alternator, fuel filter, fuel injectors, fuel pressure, and then the pump. I would imagine that most cars, like F bodies, have similar issues. Just because it is a Sebring, doesn't mean that it isn't prone to the same things going wrong with it as F bodies.

More then likely it will not be moved.... There's nowhere to move it to. I've asked questions about other cars here as well. When you've got a problem you come to the people you trust.
