ok i am now in the process of rebuilding my engine. in the process i noticed the pistons dont have the usual notch most others do as for the way they are supposed to be installed. i didnt notice when i took them out, but after cleaning the tops have found an arrow pointing in one direction and the letter B beside it. does that mean it faces toward the back of the engine or no? anyone run into this before? thanks

 

arrow points to front of engine on the stock LT1 piston. Good catch on that. Probaly won't matter which way but the shop manual says arrow points forward.
