Former 5.0 guy, gotta F body Now

Hello,

I just picked up a 94 Z28 A4 Hard Top, It has high mileage, but I got great deal on it, and it was the only LT1 4th gen in my price range. The car runs and looks great and pulls strong. Not bad for $3250. I beleive it has the 2.73 gears since there is no 1st gear select on the console. I had a 90 Mustang GT automatic car that I really liked, but I sold it to get a 5 speed Fox Body Stang, however I saw the camaro advertised locally, and Im really happy with it. I was just wondering what are the best low dollar beginners mods to start off with. What kind of HP and TQ gains can be expected from them. I hear a lot of people say a K and N or similar CAI, but on most cars it seems like they only add around 1-3 HP. Im looking forward to becoming part of the F Body community.

Get the usual CAI and a cat-back. Torque Convertor (2800) and gears are the best mods for a beginner

How many miles? Thats a hell of a good price!!!

Like Compstall mentioned, CAI, exhaust, headers, gears, sticky tires, and a converter will get you going the fastest. Keep an eye on that high-mileage bottom end though!

Welcome to the wonderful world of f-bodies!

Welcome to the board! Some of the basic mods are Cold Air Induction, and Exhaust. I would suggest 3.73 gears if you have an auto, then maybe a stall converter, or even headers....depending on your budget. If you have the money, you could go for a rebuild, and have a new motor built to handle whatever you throw at it...there are many ideas here, and thoughts, if you use the search button, you will find just about an infinite supply of info...good luck!

Welcome, to the board and congrats on getting your F-body. Definately go with the CAI. Then just like any other car open up the exhaust. I would go Cat-back first then headers. Then probably gears 3:73's are pretty popular with our cars. Then possibly a stall depending on how much you're going to race it. Here is a link to a great Group Purchase on a set of long tube headers, coated with or with out emissioins for $500

The car has 274K on it, yep TWO hundred seventy four thousand. The car must have had some serious maintinence done to it. The blue book price for it is about $4200, I think I got a pretty good deal, I figured that even with a blown motor, the car is worth close to what I paid for it. But it runs great and the prev owner said it didnt burn any oil so thats a plus. Now my limited budget modding begins

i was planning on getting to about 200k on my stock motor but the opti went bad causing the motor to backfire and detonate which in turn killed a few piston rings. but b4 this happened the car ran hard. had a hot cam ,headers, cai and exhaust. oh and my zr1s. just had it repainted so it looks great. welcome and have fun with the car best bang for the buck ride.

1-3 HP is for Civics. For fbody's the CAI will increase 12.8 HP (SLP's unit)

Theres a pic of it. I have had the car for two days and I love it. Only problem is I gotta stop messing around on the street.

LT1 F-Bodies

PS: Dont mind the "Kamero" spelling, it just making fun of the people who constantly spell it wrong.
