People with LE3 383's

I am thinking about dropping the LE3 setup into my 383 for the extra power to ensure my 120 trap speeds... anyone have this setup?

What do you guys think of it? This WILL be my daily driver, just a little scared of radical it all might be for a daily driver. I was thinking to ask Lloyd if he can just make it so my cam doesn't have to spin to nearly 7k for its potential (Going with an Eagle Rotating assembly). I am looking to shift around 6300-6500

Anyone have any dyno/track numbers?

Re: People with LE3 383's

I can't wait to tell you how it works, as the engine is sitting in the garage together and my car is in the air waiting for the engine to be dropped

When I talked to lloyd I told him I wanted a 383 that made peak hp around 6500. He said that with the LE3 and better springs (my heads have comp 977s I believe the new heads have beehives) he could make an aggressive cam with a fast ramp rate that will make power up high yet still maintain some driveabilty. My cam's @ .050 duration made me go , but looking at the seat to seat specs and such the cam isnt much bigger than a CC306 or GM847. People with CC306s in their 383s say that the cam is great for 383s and very driveable, the LE3 cam shouldnt be too far off.

Its all based on what you tell lloyd. Im sure hes made LE2 packages that were more radical than some of his LE3 packages. He stated on his site when I bought my LE3 that the LE3 in a 383 will be similar to an LE2 in a 350/355. the kryckter and bunker dudes both have 355s (I believe) and they both said theyre very driveable.

edit: I see you also have a 6 speed, mines an auto so you can "make" it more driveable, no?

Re: People with LE3 383's

funny this post just came up... I just got fired her up for the first time

it has no transmission so I cant say how it drives. with open headers it shook the house and the house next to us. it settles at a little above 900 rpm idle when it gets to operating temp where it lopes and chops oh so auraly pleasing. I CANT WAIT FOR MY TRANNY TO BE DONE!!!!!! when it revs its INSTANT and amazing and no words can describe its awesomeness.

keep in mind I am never around cars like this so I may be exagerrating things a bit. my dad said it doesn't sound like it'll be a cruising car hehe. did I mention I NEED MY TRANNY BACK!?

edit: heres some pics
and I also found out a way to make taylor OTVC wires work with LT4 valve covers.

Im running a LE2 headded 383 with a 236/242 XE lobe cam. It should peak at around 6200 and runs strong even in the midrange. I am very pleased with my results.

Honestly, a 6 speed car should have no problems hitting 120+mph traps IF you set it up correctly. My baby cam stalled auto with a stock bottom end went 116.7 in the middle of the summer.

Well, the guess stands at 118 from most people... I dunno... i'm hoping for 120's though. 430rwhp 415lbs of torque... :-)

Re: People with LE3 383's

if you go all out with a dcr pushing the limits and LT4 heads/intake LE3 ported that should be no problem with a 6 speed.

and my tranny is up in place, got her back last night. no driveshaft, torque arm, tranny cooler, or hood on the beast. hopefully tonight!!

LT1 Heads... not LT4 :-/

Flow up and around 276 though which is pretty badass

It's all about the combination. X heads plus Y cam does not equal Z mph. If it were only that simple.

Correct me if I am wrong, but doesn't NJ have a strict emission requirement? Or, is it just certain counties?
