PCV valve on a 93

The haynes manual says that when replacing the pcv valve, make sure to connect it to the valve cover. My PCV valve comes out the driver's side of the intake manifold, does a u-turn, and goes back in just 2 inches behind it!

So what gives? I saw Shoebox post a pick where it looked like the piping was going toward the front of the engine, possibly the throttle body?

Or are 93's just that way? Any help is much appreciated.

Oh, and I tore the u-turn hose.

Nate.

93-94 has the U-turn hose instead of what you saw in my 1995 pic.
