Question PCMFORLESS questions...

I was just looking at the order form for a 1993 Z28 and have two quick questions:

1. It asks if you want EGR removed, what does this do and how much of a gain.

2. It also asks about VATS. What is VATS and what gains to expect from this?

Thanks for any help.

Removing vats is good for a solid 10-12 at the wheels....

EGR is mainly removed when guys swap to headers with no emissions hookups. no h/p gain by pulling egr.

Vats is the diode(chip) in the ignition key. Most of time VATS is removed for engine swaps or if youy dont wanna buy a $30 ignition key from the dealer. No hp gain there.

You need your EGR if you need emissions......

Not sure how the Vehicle Anti-Theft System (VATS) will give you a solid 10-12 at the wheels?

Maybe NineSevenWS6 meant EGR removal?

Actually the fact that your Key is aerodynamic allows the car to move faster through the air resulting in better ETS HP no but better ETS yes (this is all a joke by the way)

Actually I think Perry93TransAm may have stumbled on to something. If you have your VATS removed, you do not need the pellet in the center of the key, thus creating a lighter key which in turn lightens the total vehicle weight! People are always saying that every little bit helps, right?!!

!EGR keeps exhaust gases out of your intake, reducing carbon buildup. that is, if you don't need for emissions.

LT4 corvettes don't even have it.
