PCM Conversion...

I hear you just unplug the 2 harnesses... the 1 bolt and thats it? Pull out the OBDII then just push in the OBDI, plug in the 2 harnesses, then the the one bolt? That really it?

Also, i'm doing that along with a 160 Thermostat at the sametime. You think I should do them both together? Just do the Conversion, turn the car on and see if it actually turn on... L0L Then just put the stat in?

Re: PCM Conversion...

There are actually 4 plugs on the PCM, and two bolts that hold it down.

The only thing is that if you are going to OBD-I from OBD-II, you have to run the older style knock sensor or modify the PCM internally for the newer one. I don't know what for, but this is what I was told you have to do, and was done on mine.

I spoke with Ion (madz28.com) recently, and if you get the conversion from him, the knock sensor mod is allready done.

If I get my thermostat before my Conversion, would it be stupid to do the stat first?

No, but in traffic it will still get as hot as before until the fans are programmed to come on earlier.

Driving down the road it will cool off to the new thermostat setting.

But i'm saying, its no big deal if I do the stat first?

Why would it get as hot as it does like a stock thermostat? That sucks

Anyone have any pictures or images to show me which bolts/harnesses to unplug? I only see bolts in that corner... little confused as to which one needs to be ripped out

Take out those two bolts you can see. The will loosem the ecm.

Wiggle it out of its home (its tight).

There are four connections on the back. Take out the clips that hold them to the ECM, and then slide them off. They are color coded and the ECM is marked which colors go where for reinstall.

No problem to do the stat first.

It gets just as hot when you are stopped because the fans are not on.

The Stat didn't show up on time... damn crap...

To do the PCM, just plug it in and go? Thats it?
