Pacesetter Vs. Hookers

I dont know which ones to buy, i really had my mind set on pacesetter long tubes because they are a lot cheaper then hookers, but a lot of people are telling me pacesetters are not all that great. Just wanted to know what people think and if they have pacesetters ceramic long tubes, how do you like them? any problems?

I have the Pacesetters and they came with a Y-pipe for like $520 shipped off eBay.

I got the race versions with no EGR or smog pump hook ups.

The fitment was excellent. Paired with Percy's Dead Soft gasket, I had no leaks.

The worst thing was the slipfit took some work, but nothing an "engineering hammer" couldn't force.

Ditch the C-clamps they come with as they will bend the pipes to an oblong oval shape. Get some bandclamps from Jeg's

They sound amazing and I absolutely love them. The ceramic coated ones look good and I only have a little rust nearly a year of midwest weather later.

I only scrape sometimes on very large speedbumps, but I found out it was my C-clamps that I for some reason installed pointing down, so I torched those off, and installed some band clamps that straightened my pipes out and gave me some more clearance.

Only slightly in either direction.... 420$ or so for the Pacesetters and 580$ or so for the Hookers. Quality on the flanges and welds on the Pacesetters look great and the Hookers look a tad better. I have heard bad things about the coating on both but have also heard just the opposite about them.

Hookers are pretty nice. They have the slip fit primary so that you do not have to remove the steering linkage during install. The quality of either part is not a whole lot diffrent from the other. I thought the quality on my hookers were pretty nice, I could have asked for some better welds but its not like I payed a grand for them so I can't be that picky.

Taking that steering knuckle out was child's play, so don't let that slow you down....but if you don't want to take two bolts out and wwrestle it out...

It's tomato-tomahto on either brand. I searched this subject awhile back before I did my install and ending up just saying screw it and buying the Pacesetters.

In terms of quality, I would say they are pretty close with each other. Some things that the Pacesetters have that give them an edge in my opinion:
1) cheaper
2) better ground clearance due to the slip-fit style
3)have both "race" and "emissions" versions

I really liked my Pacesetters. Fit was good, and ground clearance was never a problem. I had them on he car for about two years and the coating was starting to come off/rusty on the collecter portion, the primarys looked good however. For the price you can't go wrong.

I too love my coated hooker headers, real nice quality. I woud recomend these to anyone although the pacesetters seem to be more budget friendly.
