Question Pacesetter LT fitment problem

Got my motor in, also got a set of Pacesetter LT and y-pipe. Everything is in and bolted up, but my passenger side header is rubbing in two spots.

First- I already have poly motor mounts, less that 3000 miles on them. But on of the primary tubes is leaning on the solid part of the motor mount(The pary that connects to the K-member. This could probably be shimmed. How are you guys going about that?

Second- Another area that it is coming in contact with is the lip of my tranny(A4), the top area were the torque converter cover gets screwed in.
The only thing I can think of is to chop that area off.

Any suggestions?

Chris

is the tranny is as well?? or is it just the motor? Cause I had my tranny out when I put my Pacesetters on and they were doing the same thing..turned out being that the motor itself was tilted to far back beacause the tranny wasn't in....if that's the case just find a way to tilt the motor back level and you shouldn't have any problems.

I had the same exact problem. I ground down on both the motor mount and the bellhousing and it helped some. Now the primary occasionally bumps the motor mount on a hard 1-2 shift with drag radials, so I might need a little more room still. I put in poly mounts at the same time too.

Yes, the motor and tranny are in, y-pipe is on and I have ran the engine for about 45 min, I don't see how the motor can tilt, the tranny is bolted up to it. If the header could be bent out toward the passanger side of the car about 1/4 inch it would be perfect, probably wouldn'y even need to fix the motor mount.

Sorry...didn't see where you put it was hitting the tranny till after I posted...... alot of people with the A4 cars think the Pacesetter L/Ts are actually designed for a M6 car..just makes sence to me as why they all seem to hit crap on the A4 cars and not the M6 cars...but mine went one without any problems with clearence issues...cept for the dipstick tubes for the tranny didn't want to fit where it belongs....

I'm a firm believer as well that these headers were only designed around the M6 platform. I had the same problem as well with the EGR tube and tranny dipstick. I also have the same problem with the long tube slightly touching the motor mount portion of the k-member. It used to make some slight noise at idle but it stopped after a couple of months. Maybe a slight indentation was made in the header after awhile causing the noise and clearance issue to go away.

Well, a buddy of mine with an M6 LT1 car wanted to install a set of L/Ts and he's going with pacesetter as well...so I'm gonna see how that goes...I'veheard everyone tell me that they were designed for the M6's..but I always thought that was gay..(making it for one tranny and not the other)..but after having that lil issue with mine I started being a beliver myself.

He shouldn't have any problems, at least in the EGR aspect, considering he doesn't have that annoying tranny dipstick sitting there like we do.

OH no...I recomend them..they are good headers for the buck...it's just a bit more of a chore to install them on an A4 car..but they do fit...

Re: Pacesetter LT fitment problem

Also, keep in mind that me and the above poster are using the "emissions" style headers, if you use the "race" style long tubes, they won't even have an EGR fitting and you won't have to worry about it conflicting with the tranny dipstick.
